In May, during the height of the Great Depression, Harry Overly started the Overly Sheet Metal Company on Madison Avenue in Cleveland Ohio
Overly Hautz Company Created
Edward Hautz joined Harry Overly’s enterprise and The Overly-Hautz Company is founded as a sheet-metal job shop with contracted work based on customer’s demand. Examples of the Company’s first product’s include: metal cabinets, brochure holders for the Pennsylvania Railroad, electrical enclosures, gear guards, access doors, hoods & machinery covers and many other varied industrial sheet metal parts.
War Years
During the war years, the plant takes on new war-effort contracts, producing parts for the Bofors gun mounts, water-tight gun mounts for submarines, and radar units.
Fabricated Steel Motor Mount
Overly-Hautz creates a fabricated steel motor mount for Reliance Electric. This fabrication job develops into a highly successful proprietary product line.
Motor Rails
Overly-Hautz introduces motor rails with an adjustable feature.
Adapt-O-Mount
Adapt-O-Mount product is first designed and fabricated by Overly-Hautz. It provides a simple method of adapting a new re-rated motor to the old mountings.
Adjustable Motor Base Patent
Overly-Hautz awarded patent on the Adjustable Motor Base. Originally conceived in 1946 by Edward Hautz for a Reliance Electric job. After the passing of Mr. Hautz, it was patented 10 years later by Frank D Motts.
Expansion
The Overly-Hautz Company acquires a property, builds an addition, and moves to 8617 Clinton Road in Cleveland.
Shorewall
Shorewall of Grosse Ile, Michigan is acquired and becomes a division of Overly-Hautz. They create versatile wall systems for waterways, erosion control, and truck loading docks from light weight steel.
Industrial Agriculture Product Business
Overly-Hautz buys a business with locations in Meridian and Jackson, Mississippi that makes industrial agricultural products and implements.
Restructuring
The Overly-Hautz motor base division restructures and becomes The Overly Hautz Motor Base Company.
Relocation
The Overly Hautz Motor Base Company is relocated across state to a manufacturing site in Lebanon, Ohio. The facility is just north of Cincinnati, at 215 S. West St.
Automatic® Motor Base
The Overly Hautz Motor Base Co acquires the product rights for the Automatic Motor Base invented and patented by Jerome Sloyan, the owner of the Automatic Motor Base Co, of Windsor, NJ, founded in 1943.
Pivoting Motor Base
The Overly Hautz Motor Base Co. purchases the product rights of the Murray Pivoted Motor Base from the Murray Equipment Co.
OHC Implements New ERP System
Overly Hautz launches a powerful new Enterprise Resource Planning system, E2 Solution from software provider Shoptech, aimed at optimizing business resources and shop operations.
Tenso-Set Quick Release Patent
Overly Hautz Motor Base Co. jointly develops the Tenso-Set Quick Release patent for Browning.
Additional Property Acquisition
The front end office moves to a newly renovated adjoining property at 285 S. West St. The additional facility also provides for expansion of finished goods inventory, a vast shipping facility and more manufacturing space.
Automatic® Motor Base Certification
The Automatic® Motor Base is certified as an energy saving device by Advanced Energy of Raleigh, NC, with payback on most models in 3 years or less. Advanced Energy is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board and the Standards Council of Canada as a Certification Body to ISO/IEC 17065 for Energy Efficiency Verification Services including small electric motors, electric motors and generators.

Overly Hautz Motor Base Co. starts doing business as Overly Hautz Company.
US Patent Awarded
The patent covers the invention of a screw mechanism which is used to adjust the position of a motor. The mechanism provides enhanced pulling power and a reduced likelihood of thread damage during use. This proprietary technology designed and manufactured by Overly Hautz has been seen to greatly increase product life cycle in the field and comes standard in their primary line of motor bases.
Automatic® Motor Base Patent
Overly Hautz Motor Base Co. receives patent for modifications and improvement to the front of the Automatic® Motor Base.
